SUCCESSION POLITICS AND THE FUTURE OF THE NORTH KOREAN NUCLEAR ISSUE
SPEAKER: CHUNG-IN MOON, Professor of Political Sciences, Yonsei University
CHAIR: JOHN SWENSON-WRIGHT, Associate Fellow, Asia Programme, Chatham House
The speaker will discuss the evolving nature of the North Korean nuclear problem and the extent to which succession politics have influenced North Korean nuclear ambition. He will consider the status of the Six Party Talks and whether it has any suitable alternatives.
Chung-in Moon is Professor of Political Science at Yonsei University and Editor-in-Chief of Global Asia, a quarterly magazine. He has previously served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Northeast Asian Cooperation Initiative, a Cabinet-level post, and as Ambassador for International Security Affairs at the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
