It was a high-pressure day, with more than a dozen competitors hoping for the chance to travel to Seoul to take on winners from around the world on KBS TV. A taxing multiple choice test, supplemented by a brief interview, whittled the contestants down to a final five, for a quick-fire live quiz of 25 questions covering topics from K-drama through sport to business. Tireni Ojurereoluwa was a deserving winner, though all of the hopefuls put on a good show. With the day’s contenders including a visual artist, a businessman as well as students and others, the contest showed that interest in Korea is not confined to fans of K-pop. Good luck to Tireni in the grand final in Seoul.
The UK round of the 2nd Quiz on Korea was held at the KCC on 6 July, and the global final is at the end of August. Thanks to the press office at the Korean Embassy for the efforts in putting the quiz together and setting the fun questions.
