Jaebum Kim: I Am Jesus Christ, C-print (100x148cm), 2008
With an interest in the mechanisms of violence within society, Jaebum Kim’s work involves reconstructions of ready-made images, often reminiscent of those in the media.
Recently Jaebum has been focusing on the multi-layered mechanisms and structures of economics from a variety of perspectives. During his time at Delfina Foundation, Jaebum employed new images of London’s financial district as a means to visualise the neoliberal landscape.
Jaebum obtained his BA Photography from Korea Shingu College (2006). He has participated in the 2009 Asian Art Biennial, Taiwan and Morality, a project at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam. In 2012 he was awarded the Sindoh Artist Support Program Grant in Korea.
