RUSI will be launching a new report that examines the potential for a second Korean War and the options for the UK to respond to what would be one of the most momentous strategic shocks of the post-Cold War era.

With North Korea’s nuclear and missile programmes developing faster than most analysts anticipated, the threat of conflict on the Korean Peninsula is now a real possibility.

At the launch of this latest Whitehall Report, Professor Chalmers examines how a conflict might unfold and its likely consequences, for both the region and the world. He argues that the UK needs to start thinking now about its response.

Speakers

  • Professor Malcolm Chalmers
  • Discussant: Sir Simon Gass KCMG CVO, Senior Associate Fellow, RUSI, formerly Director General, Political at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2013-2016)
  • Chair: Lord Hague of Richmond
