About Heezy Yang
Heezy Yang is a Seoul-born Korean queer artist and activist. He has been actively participating in Seoul pride (also known as the Korea Queer Culture Festival), as a stage performer of the opening show, street performer, artist of the official Seoul pride art event, and booth runner since 2013. He uses various media including illustration, photography, performance, and installation for his art projects. His recent queer art exhibitions include ‘Boys And The Colours’ and ‘Drag Queens On Canvas’. Besides the official Seoul pride art event he annually holds in summer, he hosts over a dozen of queer art events, drag shows, and fundraisers for Korean queer organisations, every year. He also performs as drag queen Hurricane Kimchi at major LGBTQ events all around Seoul. He is a founder and administrator of a group called ‘LGBTQIA+ And Allies In Korea’, which has over 5700 members. The group has a number of English-Korean bilingual and international members and it has been playing the role of a bridge between Korea’s queer community and international queer communities. He is the event manager and promoter of queer bar, The LINK, located in Seoul’s gay district Itaewon.
