Call for Papers – deadline 4 February 2022

It is a pleasure to invite you to the 1st Oxford CKS Graduate Students’ Forum. The Forum is organized by the Centre of Korean Studies (CKS) at the University of Oxford’s Oriental Institute. Given continuing uncertainty surrounding travel and in-person interaction, the Forum will take place on-line on 18/03/2022.

The Forum is a place for graduate students in Korean Studies, as well as those in other disciplines whose work has a Korea-related focus, to meet, present their work, and exchange ideas. This year, the programme for the Forum also includes a keynote lecture on the Korean Language from Prof. Jiyoung Shin of Korea University. We hope that the Forum will help support and develop the growing community of researchers working on Korea-related topics in the UK.

There is no specific theme for this inaugural Forum, and submissions are welcome from all disciplines. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • History
  • Literature
  • Linguistics
  • Anthropology
  • Fine Art
  • Archaeology
  • Media Studies

To showcase the diversity and quality of the work being carried out, we intend on publishing an edited volume of selected papers based on work presented at the Forum.

Eligibility

We welcome contributions from graduate students based in UK Universities, majoring in any relevant subject with Korea-focused research.
