Rendering of a garden at the Hampton Court Flower Show

The garden is designed to promote communities around resident-friendly public gardens. Inspiration for the design comes from Incheon, a city in Korea surrounded by a landscape of mud flats and forests.

As the area is being reclaimed for development, the garden looks at the question of ownership of shared spaces and how people can live harmoniously with nature, symbolised by the growth of tough plants blooming between concrete. The central concrete paving is surrounded by a box structure, which represents architecture and which is itself enveloped by a natural forest.

Plants featured in the garden are native to Korea, or commonly found in the woodland of the area such as Cornus kousa, Rhododendron spp, Sorbaria sorbifolia and Astilbe rubra.
