Shim Chung performance

Back by popular demand, Shim Chung returns to the Korean Cultural Centre UK as part of the SAC on Screen series. This beloved ballet, performed by the Universal Ballet Company, retells the timeless Korean folktale of a devoted daughter who sacrifices herself to restore her blind father’s sight — and is miraculously reborn in a lotus blossom by the grace of the Jade Emperor.

Premiered in 1986, Shim Chung is widely regarded as one of the company’s signature works. With elegant neoclassical choreography by Adrienne Dellas, the production continues to resonate through its emotional storytelling and refined staging. Don’t miss this opportunity to once again experience the grace and beauty of Korean ballet on screen.
