It’s been a quiet week in comparison to the first two of the year, but it looks like there is some interesting music on its way.
Hip Hop legend Tiger JK, his wife Yoon Mi Rae (aka Tasha) and Bizzy are forming a new project group called MFBTY (‘My Fan Better Than Yours’), releasing an album and MV ‘Sweet Dreams’ on 21st January, followed by a showcase on 23rd. Music, performance and visual experimentation from the King and Queen of Hip-Hop – I can’t wait! The pair will be performing in Cannes on 27th January at the “Midem: Marche International du Disque et de l’Edition Musicale” – an annual music conference. Bizzy and Juniel are among others to perform though Block B’s listing might not go ahead thanks to the law suit.
It seems like GDragon (Big Bang) and CL (2NE1) are both in London right now – possibly collaborating with UK artist Kesh. GDragon might also be attending Paris Fashion week having written a song specially for stylist Nicola Formichetti to use at her show. It can heard here:
He’s also been working on a song with producer ‘Diplo’. After Big Bang’s World Tour finishes in Seoul on 26th and 27th January he will be going on a Solo World Tour – only three dates announced so far, but more to follow. The rest of Big Bang will also work on solo projects – solo albums from Taeyang and Daesung, a Japapnese drama and promotions from Seungri and T.O.P. is currently on set for a film. YG Entertainment are keeping busy reelasing teaser photos of members of their upcoming new girl group who will debut this year.
TeenTop tickets are selling like hot cakes in France – one stop on their 5 city European Tour. I still think the cost of the gig at the Forum in North London is too high, but it’s a moot point as I have a deadline at work that day and leaving early for that is not an option.
Psy is continuing his Gangnam promotions now in South America after having been invited to the Carnival in February. Bill Clinton and Kiefer Sutherland are the latest famous people with whom he’s taken a photo.
JYJ, the trio that split from DBSK, has won their court case against their former Japanese management company Avex. Avex, it was determined, had no right to interfere with their Japanese promotions which I am sure makes fans and the trio happy, as the case started back in 2011 when Avex blocked them from attempting to hold a charity event to raise money for the victims of the Tohoku Earthquake.
And finally…
