In 2012, as part of their Globe to Globe festival, the Globe Theatre invited numerous theatre companies from around the world to perform their Shakespeare adaptations in London – and Yohangza Theatre Company from South Korea brought their Midsummer Night’s Dream [LKL review here].
For phase two of the project, the Globe Theatre is taking Hamlet on a tour to every country in the world — all 205 of them, including the DPRK. Amnesty International is not happy, according to the Guardian.
The performances will be in English. BBC’s Newsnight invited actress Yuna Shin to show us how Korean Hamlet should be done, with Act 2 scene 2, ‘What a piece of work is a man.
