Coming up this Thursday (20 March) on BBC2 at 8pm, the Hairy Bikers’ Asian Adventure finally brings them to Seoul. It will be on iPlayer thereafter, but I suspect viewers overseas may need one of those browser plugins which fool websites into thinking you’re logged in from a different country.
The Bikers’ programmes are always entertaining, and judging by the book of the series they’ll be cooking up some old favourites. Anglo Korean Society members will be aware that the bikers’ archery tutor for the occasion is the husband of AKS secretary Cathy Kim.
Korean food is set to be the next big thing in the UK so the bikers want to find out what’s coming our way. On a night out with some young Seoulites, they discover a cuisine that doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to flavour, including Korean BBQ and fried chicken. Si discovers he has a natural gift for the Korean national sport, archery, while Dave brushes up on his Gangnam style dancing.
