Hyelim Kim will be joining in a discussion with Peter Wiegold at the Royal College of Music today. Sounds like a thoroughly interesting topic particularly given their jazz collaborations together.

Is the published score the final version?

Composer/conductor Peter Wiegold has worked with musicians from across the world, and discovered many different forms of ‘canon’, ownership and musical transmission. Here he discusses his own ‘part-scores’ and how he realises them live, with the help of his notes inégales colleagues Hyelim Kim (Korean taegŭm flute) and Joel Bell (electric guitar). Peter will compare with them the ways music in made and taught in Korea, jazz and within classical practice.

This talk will be followed by a drinks reception to celebrate the launch of our new Music & Ideas series.
