Event news: Discover Korea lecture series

Similar to this time last year, the South Korean embassy is sponsoring a series of informative introductory lectors on culture, education, science and economy.

While admission is free, booking is required. To reserve your place, email [email protected] with the title of the talk you would like to attend, guest names and numbers. A Korean buffet will be offered after each lecture.

Culture: Korea at the British Museum

Curator, Korean Collections, The British Museum

Eleanor Soo-ah Hyun, curator at the British Museum, will introduce the Museum’s Korean collection and the key 19th- and 20th-century individuals responsible for the formation of the collection. She will highlight some of the collection’s star pieces and in so doing will discuss the socio-cultural and artistic trends from the Three Kingdoms Period to the present.

Education: British education viewed by a Korean maths teacher working in British schools

Kim will talk about how she views the British education through her work as a maths teacher in the UK.

Dr. Jaehwan Park will illustrate the innovativeness of Korean industry with examples from recent developments in science, technology, design and culture.

Economy: Life in the UK — perspectives from a Korean finance professional
