On 8th February, Le Cordon Bleu London will be joined by Korean Buddhist nun and chef, Venerable Beop Song, for a special culinary demonstration of Korean temple food.
A renowned chef and cookbook author, Beop Song became a Buddhist nun under the tutelage of Venerable Seongkwan in 1996. She has refined her practice of temple cooking with the guidance of master monks and nuns who have a deep foundational knowledge of the cuisine.
Venerable Beop Song seeks to make the mindful cooking and eating methods of temple food accessible to people through sharing and teaching at various institutions and touring all over the world.
Join Venerable Beop Song for a demonstration of plant-based dishes that illustrate the care and thought that goes into and is characteristic of temple food. The theme for this demonstration will be Temple dishes using root vegetables and seaweed, including recipes for Korean yam porridge, pumpkin and sea lettuce soup and lotus root and radish pancakes.
Venerable Beop Song is a Korean Buddhist nun, renowned chef, and a cookbook author, who resides in Yeongseonsa temple in Daejeon City, becaming a Buddhist nun in 1996 under the tutelage of Venerable Seongkwan. Beop Song searched for the true meaning of temple food through the topic of A Study on the View of Buddhist Food in the Agama at the graduate school of Dongguk University in Seoul. She has also written the temple food column Beop Song’s Easy Dishes in the Korean cooking magazine Essen (2013-2015) and published the cookbook Beop Song’s Table from Nature (October, 2015).
