A Roundtable on Contemporary South Korean Politics

Speakers: Jang Kyung-tae (Democratic Party of Korea), Kim Jaesub (People Power Party), Lee Jaeyoung (People Power Party).

Chair: Dr John Nilsson-Wright

Following President Yoon Suk-Yeol’s surprise announcement of martial law on December 3, 2024, South Korean politics has been plunged into a period of great political uncertainty and crisis, affecting both its domestic politics and its foreign relations. Three young South Korean politicians (two current, and one former National Assembly representatives) will be presenting their views on the current political situation in the Republic of Korea (ROK) in informal conversation with Dr John Nilsson-Wright, associate professor in Japanese Politics and International Relations and head of the Japan and Koreas programme at the Centre of Geopolitics, University of Cambridge.

The event is open to all and will be on the record. All are welcome. To register for the event and to be assured of a place, please follow the following link: https://CAM_Roundtable_Contemporary_South_Korean_Politics.eventbrite.co.uk

The event is made possible thanks to funding from the Ra Jong-yil lecture fund and is part of the occasional series of lectures associated with the Ra lecture administered by the Korean Studies section of the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (FAMES).
