Mokspace is delighted to share that we are showing the beautiful works of Lee Youngsil at our gallery once again, before they return to the artist’s studio in Korea.
Lee’s art bridges abstraction and storytelling, reflecting her meditative journey to capture the innocence and joy of youth. Through playful motifs and layered textures, she recreates the essence of nature as a realm of purity and serenity. Lee’s successful use of colour, pattern and familiar shapes create an innate sense of nostalgia, bridging the gap between her and her prospective audience.
Lee Youngsil reimagines the relationship between ceramics, flowers, and nature, blending nostalgia with artistic creativity.
Incorporating ceramic elements onto her canvases, Lee portrays simplified forms of flowers and birds, inspired by her childhood memories and the traditional Korean five colours (obang-saek, 오방색). Her works, evoke a poetic harmony where the tactile depth of ceramics meets the vibrant beauty of floral imagery.
