Vegan hansik

For the first online Korean cuisine class this year, the KCCUK will focus on vegan food.

Korean Cuisine or hansik (한식) is known for being healthy and full of flavour, it is also known for its broad range of dishes that include both fermented super-foods and condiments. Based on vegetarian diets, hansik was conceived of Korean naturalism, which considered nature an integral part of human beings. It is also believed that food and medicine share the same origin and hence perform the same function on the body.

For the first online hansik class this year, the KCCUK will focus on vegan food. As more people pay attention to sustainability, we would like to share the vegan aspect of Korean food. The instructor for this event is Chef Lynn, who is serving vegan dishes inspired by Korean temple food in Korea.

Chef Lynn is the owner-chef of Dining Bar Millennial Dining. She studied BSc Medical Biology at the University of Edinburgh, and MSc Spirituality, Theology and Health at Durham University. After her studies, she became interested in animal rights, the environment and ultimately the world of plant-based gastronomy. She has studied plant-based food in Los Angeles, Milan, and Paris and worked in Michelin starred restaurants. She continues to spread her philosophy of plant-based gastronomy through media outlets and columns.

During the class, Chef Lynn will introduce Korean vegan food, share her philosophy and demonstrate vegan food based on Korean cuisine. Inspired by Korean Temple Food, this will be an opportunity to discover something new about plant-based gastronomy.
