British Ambassador's residence in the1970s

Warwick Morris and Martin Uden talk about their time in the British Embassy in Seoul.

The 1970s were a turbulent time in Korea, featuring rapid industrialisation of the economy, the assassination of President Park and a coup led by President Chun, but it was also a fascinating posting for two young diplomats, both sent to learn Korean and then work in the Political Section of the British Embassy. Drawing on their family photograph albums and vivid recollections, they will each give their accounts of the lives they led, which led to their lifelong attachment to Korea, and to them both becoming Chairman of the BKS.

We suggest members and guests might arrive 30 minutes beforehand to see the wonders of Samsung’s technology on display. The talk will be followed by a drinks reception.
