Congratulations to two Korean restaurants for winning some serious recognition from online listings magazine TimeOut.
First, in a list published this week (Monday 3 November 2025), Miga in Hackney wins TimeOut Best Restaurant in London 2025. Yes, that’s not best Korean restaurant, it’s the best restaurant, period. Their detailed review can be found here. Miga’s Yukhwe (beef tartare) gets a special mention.
As an aside, though, it seems that the tastes of the TimeOut reviewers can change pretty quickly: back in July, Miga only ranked #3 in the magazine’s top London Korean restaurants, beaten by Bibimbap in Greek Street (#2) and Seoul Bakery in Great Russell Street (#1). I wonder what has happened since then. We’ve yet to visit Miga, but a trip to Hackney to sample their cooking is long overdue.
Second, TimeOut doesn’t just cover London. In its October 2025 listing of best restaurants in the UK the humble neighbourhood Korean eatery Bokman in Bristol is named at #2 in the UK – and the best for Korean cuisine. The Bokman team commented as follows:
To say that this was a shock and honour is of course an understatement, but we can’t help but feel pretty chuffed that our small neighbourhood restaurant in Stokes Croft has achieved such incredible recognition.
It’s been a pretty amazing year for us, from Kyu being nominated for SquareMeal Female Chef of the Year to our sister restaurant, Dongnae, being ranked No.46 at the National Restaurant Awards. Being recognised as the Best Korean Restaurant in the UK was the icing on the cake, and the year isn’t over yet!
We made special trips to Bristol earlier this year to sample both Dongnae and Bokman. We’d rank the overall Dongnae experience higher than anything we’ve yet tried in London, and the Bokman banchan were the best we’ve had anywhere in the UK. Congratulations to all three restaurants.
