Interview with Bora Chung in Korea Times

There’s a nice interview with writer Bora Chung in yesterday’s Korea Times. Coming later this year from Honford Star is her short story collection Cursed Bunny, translated by Anton Hur. According to the article,

Many of her recent works can be defined as a gripping amalgamation of absurdist, unrealistic stories that draw on science fiction, horror and fantasy. In a strange sense, they are page-turners making readers anxious to know more about what’s to come but at the same time dreading to see the end.

To get a flavour of her writing, a translated excerpt of Cursed Bunny can be found here.

For UK-based night-owls, but conveniently timed for a US audience, Bora Chung and Anton Hur will be speaking at an event sponsored by the Heung Coalition entitled Reclaiming Narratives: Writing, Activism, and Translation: A Conversation and Reading with Bora Chung and Anton Hur on 25 February this year (or the very small hours of 26 Feb in the UK).

Edit: You can also find a feature on Bora Chung in December’s edition of Korean Literature Now.
